This beautiful Mutt built in the memory of great devotee of Lord Venkateswara, Sri Hathi Ramji. It is believed this great devotee got opportunity to play dice with Lord himself.
The mutt used to administer the Tirumala temple before Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) came into being in 1933. Hathiram Baba was a great devotee of Lord Balaji and the mutt was named after him and established with an aim to serve the temple. And the present-day Mutt was probably built during the period 1843 to 1932. This beautiful Mutt is constructed so aesthetically, its magnificence can be witnessed even today. Especially the intricate wood carvings and typical Indian-type construction leaves anyone spell bounded and nostalgic.
One can find Hathiram Baba Mutt on the southeastern side of the Venkateswara Temple of Tirumala near the main entrance built up at an elevated place, in memory of the great saint Hathiram. One can visit this Mutt to know more about this great saint.
