Trip Tirupati – One Stop for Tirumala Information

Angapradakshinam is one of the important vows taken by the pilgrim to show their devotion to the Lord, and thank Him for protecting them and fulfilling their wishes. The term ‘Angapradakshinam’ comes from two Sanskrit words ‘Anga’ meaning body, and ‘Pradakshinam’ meaning circumambulation.

During Angapradakshinam, the devotee lies prostrate on the ground with arms outstretched, facing the temple’s sanctum sanctorum, and offers prayers to the deity. The devotee then gets up, and rolls around the temple on the pathway called Vimana Pradakshinam, which is located inside the temple. While performing this act, the devotee continuously chants the name of the Lord “Govinda”.

Angapradakshinam is a beautiful and powerful practice that helps devotees deepen their connection with the divine and express their gratitude for the blessings received from the Lord.
